Parents, don't look too closely at what your child is creating! We spent our morning making craft projects that students will wrap and give to others during the coming weeks. One gift will be shared with a classmate during a secret PAL exchange the week before winter break. Students also donated one gift that will be shared at the senior luncheon at the Fitchburg Community Center.

There's nothing quite like Friday mornings at Stoner Prairie. This week a kindergartener took the lead and the PALs joined in.
Stoner Prairie Food Drive
Starts Monday, November 17 and ends Friday, December 12 We are encouraging all Stoner Prairie staff, students, and families to participate. Boxes for donations will be located around the school. All donated food will go to the Verona Area Needs Network food pantry. Donations can be any non-perishable food items or a monetary donation (cash/check). Most needed items include:
Our Community Service Workshop gave students a chance to reach out to several organizations in our community. Mr. Scocos came and talked with us about veterans and the important work they have done to support our country. Students made cards and wrote messages to show gratitude and thankfulness. Mr. Scocos shared how appreciative veterans are when they receive cards and letters from students. He will be delivering the cards to veterans in the near future. We organized and planned for a school-wide food drive that will support the Verona Area Needs Network food pantry. Students also made Thanksgiving cards that will accompany food baskets that will be distributed before the holiday. Blankets were made for Lilada's room which supports women who might have young children. Mrs. Ballen has already delivered the blankets and the woman who took the blankets was very grateful and thankful for the work of PALs. Dog and cat toys were made for the Alliance of Animals and the Environment. Thank you cards were also made for those who volunteer or support the alliance in other ways. Hannah West, the director of the alliance, is a former PAL. We were thrilled to have her return and spend her morning with us. Once again, we made gifts for the consumers of Dreamweavers. See video and information below. The coasters that were made today will be passed out at their annual spring celebration. We want to thank the many parent volunteers who spent their morning with us. We appreciate the support you provide our PALs Community here at school. One of the organizations that we supported during our Community Service Workshop is called Dreamweavers.
Dreamweavers, Inc., founded in 1993, is a small non-profit that helps adults with developmental disabilities live in their own homes and access community opportunities. Over the last 6 years, PALs teachers have prepared a meal for the consumers, their families and the agency staff. PALs students contribute by preparing a small gift that is presented to each of the consumers at the party. The video linked below includes footage from the gathering last spring. PALs kids made refrigerator magnets for that party. This year they made decorative coasters. https://drive.google.com/a/gapps.verona.k12.wi.us/file/d/0B4g4Bn8gZJmaWTc3Y0U3aS1UdUk/view?usp=sharing One of the Minute to Win It games from our party today.
