Below is a general overview of our daily schedule. It will take several weeks before we get regulated. Students will glue a copy of this in the back of their agenda books. While we value flexibility, we also know that students enjoy predictability.

Over the years, we have had great success with supporting students to become fluent with math facts across the 4 operations (addition, subraction, multiplication and division). Our math facts program starts with a preassessment which helps us place students at an appropriate challenge level. As part of homework students are expected to practice the top part of the math facts card for about 5 minutes. With each card, students are introduced to 3-4 new facts. Once the child can complete the top half of the card in 90 seconds, he or she is ready to test out on the bottom of the card at school. The test at the bottom requires the student to complete the card with 100% accuracy in 60 seconds or less. Students came to school in record numbers (20+) to set up our classrooms on August 26 and 28. Organization, creativity, initiative, helpfulness and smiles were abundant!!
A newsletter was sent home on Tuesday of this week that included a field trip permission slip and information about end of the year activities. You can also see that information online by downloading the file below. We had a great time at Field Day!
Below is our testing schedule for the upcoming Badger Assessment. Families will also receive a hard copy of this schedule.
State projects were assigned yesterday. Students should be writing lists of what they already know about their state and a list of questions they want to answer. Selection slips for presentation date and product choices are due tomorrow!
We enjoyed receiving and reading many thank you letters and cards in response to the history museum. Our students expressed appreciation for the specific comments and the focus on learning reflected in the letters. This gave us the opportunity to restate the importance of using supporting details in writing.
