Below is a general overview of our daily schedule. It will take several weeks before we get regulated. Students will glue a copy of this in the back of their agenda books. While we value flexibility, we also know that students enjoy predictability.
Over the years, we have had great success with supporting students to become fluent with math facts across the 4 operations (addition, subraction, multiplication and division). Our math facts program starts with a preassessment which helps us place students at an appropriate challenge level. As part of homework students are expected to practice the top part of the math facts card for about 5 minutes. With each card, students are introduced to 3-4 new facts. Once the child can complete the top half of the card in 90 seconds, he or she is ready to test out on the bottom of the card at school. The test at the bottom requires the student to complete the card with 100% accuracy in 60 seconds or less. |
