PALs classrooms were originally created (1992) as a school within a school to give teachers, students and families more opportunities to work together over time than the traditional 9 month placement.
Children of various ages work and learn together sharing teachers over as many as a 5 years.
It may be the sense of community among the five classrooms that distinguishes the PALs program from other Stoner Prairie classrooms. This sense of community is fostered through a variety of traditions and celebrations as well as high involvement of parents.
