Three major projects are assigned each year in the 4/5. These are intended as primarily at home assignments over a 4-5 week period. We guide students at school as needed and rely on parent input in order to support students appropriately. We send home a project packet with each project assignment to inform parents and guide students.
Project work includes several goals and expectations for students:
While the project expectations are extensive and complex we see incredible growth from students as they engage in the process.

Project work includes several goals and expectations for students:
- Select a suitable project considering strengths, the resources available, and the time given to complete the project.
- Plan, organize, and complete your project by a stated deadline.
- Keep track of progress on planning guide checklist and calendar.
- Demonstrate understanding of a selected topic by presenting the project to the class.
- Include specified components such as: research from 2-3 sources, written work, a product and a presentation.
- Assess performance and efforts on the stated goals. The assessment includes at least one paragraph reflection on the project as a whole.
While the project expectations are extensive and complex we see incredible growth from students as they engage in the process.
